JANUARY PROGRAMS

LIT EVENT: PAINTING POTTER

Friday, January 6th 6:30pm
Attention all muggles!! Looking for something fun and free to do on a Friday night? join us for a Harry Potter Paint Night! Pamela Paredes, studio owner of Wine and Design Syosset, will guide you through step-by-step instructions on how to paint your "one of a kind" potter masterpiece. And of course, we will have pizza! This program is part of LIT, an after-hours space just for teens Hosted on a rotating basis by the Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick, and North Merrick libraries on the first Friday of each month. Open to grades 6 - 12. Please register in advance online or at the Adult Reference Desk.

BABYSITTING WORKSHOP

Monday, June 20th 6:30-8:30pm
Join registered nurses Joanne Tanck and Georgette Basso for a two-hour basic first aid course and an introduction to babysitting skills. Participants are asked to bring a doll or stuffed animal for demonstration. Certificates will be awarded to all participants. 

DOG BEDS FOR CHARITY

Wednesday, January 25th 7pm
Join us for a good doggie cause! Mrs. Kathy is going to help us create soft and cozy dog beds to donate to a local animal shelter. Community service will be awarded to all participants.

Do you like to play chess? Or do you want to learn how to play? Join our chess club on Tuesdays, January 10th and 24th and February 7
th and 21st. New players welcome! All skill levels!

CHESS TOURNAMENT

Sunday, February 12th 1:30-5pm
Join Chess Master Joel Salman as he conducts this lively tournament for chess enthusiasts in grades 2 through 12. Chess sets, boards and clocks will be provided for all players. Check-in between 1:30-1:45pm, round one begins at 1:50pm. Please arrive promptly. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. Prizes will be given to those players who complete the tournament. All participants must register in advance online or at the Reference Desk

CHINESE CHICKEN DUMPLINGS

Tuesday, January 31st 7pm
Ms. Kathy returns to make Chinese chicken dumplings to celebrate the Chinese New Year. After a demonstration, participants will prepare all the ingredients needed to make scrumptious dumplings, wrap them individually, put them in a tin, and take them home to cook. Please be advised that this class may contain food allergens.

SUPER BOWL FOOTBALL PRETZELS

Thursday, February 2nd 4pm
 Learn how to make homemade hot pretzels dough from scratch. Then shape it into a football and add the salt.  Participant will bring it home on a tin and bake at home.
