Cuddle Buddies For Kids
Monday, December 14th 3:30pm
Join Mrs. T to create soft and Cuddly toys for children living in a homeless shelter this holiday season. No sewing required.

COOKIES FOR CHARITY
Tuesday, December 15th 7-8pm
Join us in baking for a good cause. We will learn to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch, and Mrs. Kathy will bake half of them and bring them to a shelter. We will bring the other half home to enjoy with family and friends.

Dog Treats for Charity
Monday, December 21st 7-8pm
Join Mrs. Kathy to make dog treats from scratch using cookie cutters to make pet-friendly shapes. We will donate them to a local animal shelter.

Patient Playbooks
Wednesday, December 30th 3pm
There are more than 6 million children hospitalized each year. Being in the hospital can be really scary, especially for kids, and Games and other activities can be a great distraction. In collaboration with DoSomething.org we will create activity books to brighten their stay!

All of the above programs are open to Grades 5 and Up. Community Service will be awarded to all participants

Do you need help finding the perfect gift for someone? Running low on cash this holiday season? Join us for an afternoon of crafting to make unique and heartfelt gifts for that special someone. Over a million children experience homelessness every year. Many kids’ birthdays fall while they are in a shelter, making it hard to celebrate. In collaboration with DoSomething.org we will make and mail birthday cards to help ensure everyone gets to celebrate on their special day! All materials provided and community service awarded.

Teen Movie: Pitch Perfect 2
Tuesday, September 29th 6pm
In this sequel to Pitch Perfect, the collegiate a cappella group called the Barden Bellas enter into an international competition, but they are told it will be impossible to win because they are from the U.S. The girls refuse to give up and vow to be the first Americans to take home the top prize. SAT vs. ACT Workshop

C2 Education and the North Bellmore Public Library are offering a FREE question and answer workshop for parents and high school students. Join us to get valuable information about these two different tests. No registration required. Free and open to the public.

Spa Day

Join Mrs. Kathy to customize your own natural body scrub using. different essential oils. You will pick a scent and make your own scrub in a decorated jar. Please register is advance.  

Anti-Stress Workshop

Join Mrs. T to learn stress reduction activities and create a coping box. This box is a collection of items that you can use when you are feeling anxious, panicky or distressed. Please register is advance.

The release of the movie, “Paper Towns” has special restrictions. It cannot be released before 9:00PM, on Thursday, July 23. Due to this change, parents or caregivers are welcome to attend for $10.00. Cash only payment received at the door. Please arrive earlier to check in.

TEEN SUMMER READING CLUB 2015

SRC KICK-OFF PARTY on TUESDAY, JULY 7TH at 7PM
Join us to kick-off the summer right and Unmask at our SRC pizza party on July 7th at 7pm!  Sign up for the teen summer reading club while eating pizza, playing Bingo and other fun games, making crafts, and entering raffles to win more prizes! All students entering grades 6-12 in September can join NBL’s summer reading club from July 7th to August 14th. As a member you will read books, write reviews of the books you have read, and submit them for a chance to win the weekly raffle. No Sew Superhero Costumes

We will have fun learning how to make a superhero costume using felt, large superhero cutouts for symbols, hot glue gun and fabric scissors to make it. We will donate these costumes to a Children’s Hospital. Community service will be awarded.

Teen Movie: INTO THE WOODS

 Join us for a viewing of Into the Woods. It is a modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel -all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them. Rated PG

BIRTHDAY CARDS FOR ELDERLY

Join us to make birthday cards for the elderly. Our cards will help bring joy to some of our isolated seniors in the area. Often, this card is the only recognition a senior receives on his or her birthday. Community service will be awarded.

It’s that time of year again, and the YA books need to be cleaned. If you need volunteer hours or you just want to pitch in, come help us out for 1 or 2 hours. Community service will be awarded.

Babysitting WORKSHOP

Teenagers are invited to learn the basics of caring for infants and small children along with first aid techniques. Registered nurses Joanne Tanck and Georgette Basso will present a two-hour basic first aid course and an introduction to babysitting skills. Participants are asked to bring a doll or stuffed animal for demonstration. Certificates will be awarded.

Taco Night
Tuesday, April 28th 7-8pm
Mrs. Kathy will teach us how to season chicken and prepare a delicious and nutritious taco. There will be a choice of soft and hard tacos, and lots of toppings! Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies.

Blankets for Charity

Have fun while earning community service making blankets for those in need! No sewing involved. We will measure, cut, and knot fleece material to make cuddly blankets. All participants will receive a community service certificate. Open to grades 5 and up.

Making a Music Video
Wednesday, February 11th 6:30-8:30pm
In this hands on class, we will take pictures, graphics and music and
create a music video. Timelines, effects, transitions and more will be addressed. Bring a USB drive with your favorite song and pictures. Please register in advance. Open to grades 5 and up.

Sweatshirt Revamp Camp
Tuesday, February 24th 7pm
Join us to turn an old sweatshirt into a new fashioned work of art. You provide the sweatshirt,  we’ll provide everything else! It’s not only good for the environment, but for your wardrobe too! Please register in advance-space is limited! Open to grades 5 and up.

SAT Prep Course
Learn tricks and techniques for taking the SATs. Enhance your math and verbal skills while learning test taking strategies that can help you get a higher score. This 6 week course will be held from 6:45-8:45pm on the following Thursday evenings: March 5th, 12th, 19th and April 2nd, 9th & 16th. An $80 check, payable to Melissa Bielawski, is required at registration. Students must purchase McGraw-Hill’s SAT I Book, 2015 Edition for class.  We have limited copies for sale at the Reference Desk for $5. Registration opens February 2nd to all NBL patrons, and February 17th for all non-residents.

Check-in between 1:30-1:45pm, round one begins at 1:50pm. Please arrive promptly. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. Prizes will be given to those players who complete the tournament. All participants must register in advance online or at the Adult Reference Desk.

COOKIES FOR CHARITY
Wednesday, January 21st 7-8pm
Join us in baking for a good cause.  We will learn to make homemade chocolate chip cookies from scratch, and Mrs. Kathy will bake half of them and bring them to the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen in Hempstead.  We will bring the other half home to enjoy with family and friends. Grade 5+

Our chess club will meet on Tuesdays, January 6th & 20th and February 3rd & 17th. New players welcome! All skill levels! We are also hosting a Chess Tournament on Sunday, March 1st. Stay tuned for more details!

Taco night

Mrs. Kathy will teach us how to season chicken and prepare a
delicious and nutritious taco. There will be a choice of soft and hard tacos, and lots of toppings! Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies.
