NOVEMBER PROGRAMS

LIT MOVIE EVENT:

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald 
Libraries Ignite Teens invites current 6th-12th graders to an after-hours space just for teens. Hosted monthly on a rotating basis by the N. Bellmore, Bellmore, Merrick, and N. Merrick Libraries, LIT will feature different activities, events, as well as spaces to hang out, munch on snacks, and get together with friends. This month we invite you to the Bellmore Playhouse on Friday, November 16th at 4pm for a viewing of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. This is the second installment of the "Fantastic Beasts" series set in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World featuring the adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander. Enjoy free popcorn and soda. This is a drop off event only. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Chess Club

Tuesday, November 27th 7-8:30pm
Do you like to play chess? Want to learn how to play? Join the NBL Chess Club! All skill levels welcome. Chess boards will be provided. Open to grades 3 through adult. Please register in advance. This program will take place at Grace Lutheran on 1294 Bellmore Avenue.

BIRTHDAY BOXES

Tuesday, November 27th 3:30pm
Our Library hosted a Birthday Party Supply drive in collaboration with Birthday Wishes, a local charity with a mission to provide birthday parties to children experiencing homelessness. Now we need help to assemble and decorate the boxes for delivery. Join us to help make a child’s birthday special. You can also bring any donations with you to the event. The boxes will include: new, unopened birthday supplies such as themed plastic tablecloths, birthday banners, party hats, blowers, balloons, disposable cake pans, juice boxes, birthday plates and napkins and unwrapped toys. Community service will be awarded.

BOOKMARKS FOR THE ELDERLY

Saturday, December 1st 10am-1pm
Drop in at our temporary location anytime between 10am and 1pm on Saturday,
December 1st to design and decorate beautiful and unique bookmarks for our homebound patrons. It will brighten their day to receive a fancy new bookmark that is crafted from the heart. Community service will be awarded Grades 5 and up.

OCTOBER PROGRAMS


On Saturday, October 13th libraries across Long Island are hosting a variety of different initiatives that will allow us to help those in need. Please join us for a day of community service, family and fun as we host the following:
 Thank You Veterans!
Drop in anytime to decorate cards and write letters to honor and thank our Veterans for their service. We will collaborate with Operation Gratitude, and their mission to express appreciation for the sacrifices of our Military. Our cards and letters will be included in the care packages sent to Military Veterans all across the country.
BIRTHDAY BOXES

Collection boxes will be in the Library from October 13th through November 13th. Help make a child’s birthday special. Donate new, unopened birthday supplies such as themed plastic tablecloths, birthday banners, party hats, blowers, balloons, disposable cake pans, juice boxes, birthday plates and napkins (no solids) and unwrapped toys. After our collection is complete, we will host a Birthday Box fill and assembly party to get our boxes ready for delivery. Stay tuned for the date.

(This film is rated PG-13) Enjoy free popcorn and soda. This is a drop off event only. Space is limited. Registration is required.
