2009 SUMMER READING CLUB

SUMMER READING CLUB KICK-OFF PARTY
Tuesday, June 30th 7-8:30pm
Come and start the summer off right here at the library. We will have Guitar Hero, American Idol Karaoke, Twilight Bingo and many other games to choose from at our SRC Kick-Off Party. We will also have raffles, prizes, crafts and snacks! The first 30 teens to sign up for the SRC will get a prize. As a member you will read books, write reviews of the books you have read, and submit them for a chance to win the weekly raffle. When you sign up for the Summer Reading Club you will get a chance to guess how many gumballs are in the jar at the library. Guess correctly and you win the candy! Join us for another great summer of reading, programs, prizes and fun! Sign up for the Young Adult Summer Reading Club and Express Yourself! Open to all North Bellmore Library patrons entering grades 6-12

JUNE PROGRAMS

BEACH BAG BOOK CLUB
Thursday, June 18th 4:15pm
We have teamed up again with the Merrick, North Merrick and Bellmore Library to bring back the Beach Bag Book Club. We will meet three times this summer at the Merrick Library Wing on Merrick Avenue in Merrick. At each event, hosted by young adult author Jen Calonita (Secrets of My Hollywood Life series), teens will get to discuss a book pre-selected for them with not only Ms. Calonita, but with the author of the book itself. Our first book will be Sleepaway Girls by Jen Calonita. Sign up at the Adult Reference Desk. Everyone that signs up gets a beach bag to tote all of your favorite books around in this summer.

CHESS CLUB
Children (3rd-6th Grades) 7:00-7:55pm
YA & Adults (7th-Adult) 8:00-8:55pm
Our chess club will meet on the following Tuesdays: June 9th and 23rd. New players welcome! Register on any night the club meets.

KNIT ‘N SIT PARTY
If you participated in our Knit ‘N Sit Group please join us for the finale party on Tuesday June 16th from 4:30 – 5:30pm. We will celebrate the months of charitable work with snacks and music!

BABYSITTING WORKSHOP
Tuesday, June 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
Registered nurses Joanne Tanck and Georgette Basso return to present a two-hour basic first aid course and an introduction to babysitting skills. Learn the basics of caring for infants and small children along with first aid techniques. Bring a Cabbage Patch or similarly-sized doll or stuffed animal. All participants will receive a Certificate. Sign up at the Adult Reference Desk - registration is limited. The class is free and open to teens in grades 6 – 12.
